What does accreditation mean?

Beyond a diploma: a commitment to practice, ethics, and evolution.

Accreditation is an official recognition granted by Yoga Alliance International (YAI) – after completing our programs. Specifically, at Omni Yoga Academy, choosing a certified education means being part of an ecosystem that prioritizes quality, transparency, and respect for the student.
We operate under an international Code of Conduct that puts your well-being first: we are committed to creating a safe and clean practice environment, respecting the pace, privacy, and dignity of each student, and honestly acknowledging our own limitations.

Who is the Alliance that validates these standards?

Our standards are validated by Yoga Alliance International (YAI), a global organization headquartered in India, dedicated to promoting authentic practice.

It all started with Swami Vidyanand, a renowned yoga master who created the Transformational Yoga system in 2004 and subsequently founded this global alliance.

Coming from a family with an ancient tradition of Bhakti yogis and born in the deeply spiritual environment of Datiya (one of the 17 sacred centers of Tantra in India), his first guru was his own father, Sri Harihar Goswami. Later, Swamiji mastered yoga in the traditional Indian way, studying with enlightened masters such as Swami Satyananda (founder of the famous school in Bihar) and anonymous ascetics in the Himalayas, practicing Satsang with Swami Rama, and learning techniques from various Tibetan masters.

However, he did not want to create just a simple certification institution, but a worldwide movement.

He wanted a space where yoga would retain its traditional essence, but become open and supportive of the modern world.

Deeply inspired by the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, Swami Vidyanand, following Sri Aurobindo's "Third Dream"  (quoted below),  gave this alliance a clear mission. Thus, YAI's vision is to cultivate an inclusive yogic ecosystem, open to all traditions, in which individuals, teachers, and schools unite in the spirit of growth and transformation, supporting new generations of authentic masters.

„A world union forming the outer basis of a fairer, brighter and nobler life for all mankind.”

What does "Accredited" mean to you and your education?

To obtain an internationally recognized certification, you must go through a well-defined educational ecosystem.

Educational Standard and Curriculum International certifications are measured in "study hours" (e.g., 100, 200, 300, 500 hours). These figures actually reflect the volume and complexity of the curriculum offered by a school. For example, a 200-hour program covers an extensive curriculum that must include:

Techniques and Practice: Mastery of asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation.

Anatomy and Physiology: Essential knowledge to be able to guide the body in conditions of maximum safety.

Philosophy and Ethics: Maintaining integrity and understanding the roots of the practice.

Once you complete and assimilate this curriculum, you will obtain the title of CYT® (Certified Yoga Teacher). This title officially certifies that your learning experience and level of training meet international standards.
Assessment: CYT® certification is not automatically awarded upon completion of the course, simply for attendance. It is awarded through an assessment of the knowledge you have acquired, your practical experience, and, crucially, the integrity with which you teach (teaching methodology).

What does this accreditation offer you in concrete terms?

Accreditation is not just a diploma, but integration into a supportive professional community:

Being part of an accredited school means that you are protected by an international code of ethics. This guarantees that you will learn in a safe, clean, and comfortable practice environment. Furthermore, the Code ensures that your rights, dignity, and privacy are respected, without any form of discrimination (regardless of age, physical limitations, gender, or ethnicity). It is also a promise that teachers act with integrity and recognize their own limitations, always putting your safety first.

You become an officially certified yoga teacher (CYT®). An essential and transparent detail provided by YAI is that registration is done with a one-time fee. There are no annual fees to maintain your status; you are a member for life.
In addition, the alliance also offers recognition opportunities for instructors who already have extensive experience gained in other traditions. They can affiliate through a dedicated process, obtaining valid international certification and entering the same educational ecosystem.

Once certified, you join the international network of YAI professionals. You have access to their platform where you can build a comprehensive member profile (with videos, photos, blog articles, your classes, and events). This will make it much easier for you to be found based on location, not only by future students, but also by colleagues and other accredited teachers for collaborations, significantly increasing your traffic and visibility.

You have the right to apply for instructor positions anywhere in the world and have a recognized foundation to take the necessary steps to open your own studio or practice facility.

Your education never ends. As a member, you have access to the Continuing Professional Development program.
This allows you to participate in YAI-approved and recognized continuing education courses and earn credits, gaining official validation as you gain more experience in the field.
